Kangding Ray (* 1978; eigentlich: David Letellier) ist ein franzΓΆsischer Musiker, DJ und Musikproduzent.

Letellier schloss ein Studium an der Γ‰cole nationale supΓ©rieure d’architecture de Bretagne ab. Er spielte zunΓ€chst als Gitarrist in verschiedenen Rockgruppen. 2001 zog er nach Berlin.

2006 erschien auf dem Label Raster-Noton sein DebΓΌtalbum Stabil. Kurz vor der VerΓΆffentlichung wΓ€hlte er seinen KΓΌnstlernamen in Anlehnung an die chinesische Stadt Kangding. Er ist GrΓΌnder des Plattenlabels ara.

Auszeichnungen

2022 war er für die Musik zu dem Spielfilm Wann kommst Du meine Wunden küssen? für den Rolf-Hans Müller Preis für Filmmusik nominiert. Für den Soundtrack zum Spielfilm Sirāt erhielt er 2025 bei den Filmfestspielen von Cannes den Cannes Soundtrack Award und ist für einen Golden Globe nominiert.
